More About me
Born in 1962 in Delhi, Shri Upadhyay grew up in a culturally rich environment. A bright student, he pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Delhi University. His early involvement with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) instilled in him values of discipline, patriotism, and service, which laid the foundation for his political career.
Shri Upadhyay entered politics during his college years, winning the Vice President position in the Delhi University Student Union (DUSU) elections. His leadership in student politics paved the way for significant roles within the BJP’s youth wing, including Secretary of BJYM Delhi State and Treasurer of BJYM All-India.
In 2012, he became the councilor of Malviya Nagar, Delhi. As Chairman of the Education Committee in South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), he implemented transformative initiatives like computer-aided learning labs, CCTV in schools, and women’s self-defense programs.
In 2014, Shri Upadhyay was appointed President of Delhi BJP. His leadership brought a surge in public engagement and helped the party gain significant traction in Delhi. He successfully strategized the party’s election campaigns, focusing on local issues and grassroots concerns. Under his leadership, the party’s presence was revitalized, and his ability to connect with both the party workers and the general public was instrumental in shaping BJP’s agenda for urban governance in Delhi. Shri Upadhyay also spearheaded a massive public contact campaign, articulating a vision for development and strengthening the party’s presence among Delhiites. His leadership laid the groundwork for BJP’s electoral victories in subsequent years.
In 2021, Shri Upadhyay’s political journey reached a new milestone with his appointment as Vice Chairman of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC). This role allowed him to expand his impact on urban development, addressing critical issues such as infrastructure improvement, environmental sustainability, and citizen-centric governance, Leadership as NDMC Vice Chairman.
Shri Satish Upadhyay, in his current role as Vice Chairman of NDMC, has set forth an ambitious vision for New Delhi’s development. He has focused on creating a more livable, sustainable, and vibrant city for its citizens, guided by the principles of service delivery excellence and public accountability.
Visionary Projects for a Better New Delhi Happiness Parks and Yoga Initiatives Expanding the concept of happiness parks, Shri Upadhyay seeks to create spaces where citizens can relax, rejuvenate, and connect with nature. Recognizing the health benefits of yoga, he plans to allocate early morning slots in NDMC parks for yoga sessions in collaboration with NGOs, promoting physical and mental well-being.
